Jasper is a type of silica mineral with trace elements which give the stone its unique colors and patterns. Jasper is a member of the chalcedony family. There are many varieties of Jasper with unique colors and patterns. Types of Jasper include Red Jasper, Picture Jasper, Dalmatian Jasper, Mookite Jasper, Green Jasper, and Yellow Jasper. It is most commonly formed in sedimentary rocks with high concentration of silica.
